Drapes By Design is owned and operated by Kartika Leng.  Kartika has spent her entire career working with textiles, ranging from women's fashion to manufacturing and soft furnishings. Her passion lies in creating beautiful, functional and stylish window treatments tailored to each client's individual preferences.
Kartika took over Drapes by Design in November 2023, but the business was well-established business with a strong 14-year history.
Today, we operate from an inviting showroom in Rotorua where customers from the Bay of Plenty and South Waikato can comfortably browse our extensive product range and discuss their requirements. Our small, dedicated team of three takes pride in offering personal, attentive service. As an independent local business, we understand and appreciate our community, focusing on building lasting relationships and providing trusted advice.

When you first get in touch, you can simply email us a picture of your space, and we'll provide an initial estimate. Alternatively, our friendly team can visit your property to measure accurately, discuss fabric choices and offer a detailed quote.
Throughout the process, we listen carefully, answer questions thoroughly, and ensure you're completely comfortable with your choices. If adjustments or alterations are ever needed, we're always available to help.

Warranty & Service Commitment

Fabrics – 3 Years
We will replace any curtain or upholstery fabric that proves to have a manufacturing fault within 3 years, provided it has been:
  • Professionally cared for and cleaned if required
  • Installed and used under normal residential or light commercial conditions
  • Protected from excessive sunlight damage
  • Not altered with third-party after-treatments
Blinds & Shutters – 3 Years
Any blind or shutter found to have a defect will be repaired or replaced within 3 years of purchase.

Workmanship – 2 Years
We stand by the quality of our installation. Any faulty workmanship identified within 2 years will be repaired at no cost.

Curtain Tracks – 2 Years
Both motorised and manual tracks (residential and commercial) are covered for 2 years.

Residential vs Commercial Use
Warranty terms may vary for commercial applications due to higher use and wear. Please confirm at the time of purchase if your order is for a commercial setting.

Making a Claim
If you need to make a claim:
  1. Contact our team by phone or email
  2. Provide proof of purchase (invoice/receipt)
  3. Send photos or details of the issue
  4. We’ll respond within 5 working days to confirm next steps
Care Tips
To keep your window furnishings performing at their best:
  • Follow manufacturer cleaning instructions
  • Use professional cleaning when needed
  • Avoid harsh chemicals
  • Check cords, tracks and motors regularly
What’s Not Covered
Warranties don’t apply where issues are caused by:
  • Excessive sunlight or fading (assessed case-by-case within 12 months)
  • Water damage or mildew
  • Soiling or stains from use
  • Misuse or use outside the product’s intended purpose
  • Fabric movement due to natural fibres and home conditions
